In late February, at an opening bash so extravagant Bacchus himself could have hardly done better, close to 900 of Sydney’s great and good (the likes of fashion designers Pip Edwards and Simone Zimmermann, philanthropist Skye Leckie, and TV personalities Karl Stefanovic and Richard Wilkins) mingled their way around The International, Point Group’s lavish multi-venue dining hub in Martin Place.
A sculpted ice luge chilled an endless cascade of martinis, marble-topped tables groaned under the weight of charcuterie and canapés, and legions of tuxedo-clad waiters with trays of cocktails weaved nimbly through the glamorous masses. It was a debut on a scale rarely (if ever) matched in the Harbour City.
