Why a new doco about Jenny Kee made her cringe
The 74-year-old fashion icon appears in a film that explores her brushes with death, money, friendship and partnership with Linda Jackson.
Iam at the home of fashion icon Jenny Kee, whose bright knitwear was one of the defining looks of the 1980s, to talk about a new documentary about her and her former business partner, fellow fashion designer and artist Linda Jackson.
The show is called Step Into Paradise and I feel that’s what I’ve done as I come down the driveway to Kee’s home in NSW’s Blue Mountains. It’s not the home itself that inspires the feeling, although it is singularly lovely and Kee to a tee – crafted from corrugated iron and filled with rugs, artwork, mirrors and objets d’art of her own design – but the land on which it sits.
