Each year, it’s the big question at Australian Fashion Week: is this all worth it?

While exact costings are hard to pin down, insiders say the event costs millions of dollars – and takes a full year – to produce. So when New York-based IMG pulled its funding of the industry gathering in November last year, many imagined it might be the end of Australian Fashion Week, established in 1996 by former PR impresario Simon Lock.
