“Right now," says Emily Nolan, as we speak over the phone – social distancing making traditional interviews a (temporary) thing of the past – “I’m wearing my favourite red socks, my walking leggings, an old T-shirt, my boyfriend’s undies and my dad’s sweatshirt.”
Even the most stylish among us are not immune to a little comfort dressing during challenging times, but Nolan, a Melbourne-based designer, believes clothes can play a powerful role in making us feel safe and secure in times of adversity.
