Auto accessories to menswear: An unconventional journey in fashion
How should a suit fall? Bespoke suiting expert Joe Ha watched vintage movies to find out.
On the shelf of The Finery Company’s new showroom is a briefcase that Joe Ha has been carrying around for 20 years. Handmade from luxurious bridle leather, it’s on display to demonstrate what built-to-last quality looks like. It’s also a memento of Ha’s unconventional journey in fashion.
Ha has carried that briefcase through a career in marketing auto accessories and fast fashion, running a jewellery business and, since 2014, as the founder of The Finery Company. It’s in this latest guise that he’s made a business from his love of bespoke and made-to-measure menswear. His showroom, hidden in a quiet street in Sydney’s Paddington, opened this year and is something of an immersion in Ha’s aesthetic.
