British set designer Es Devlin creates spectacles of gigantic proportions and intensely intimate emotional impact.

For Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz tour of 2014, Devlin had the petite singer slide onto the stage down a model of her own tongue poking from images of her face. Beyoncé – already physically commanding IRL – appeared positively Lilliputian emerging from an overblown effigy of her apparently naked body on the recent Renaissance tour.
