A painting Alan Bond made in prison just sold at auction

The late fraudster’s lawyer – given the painting by the America’s Cup winner – found out at an auction on Monday.

When Alan Bond died in 2015, The Australian Financial Review recorded that the British-born tycoon had soared and plunged “from high-flying businessman and America’s Cup hero to one of Australia’s biggest fraudsters”.

Where Bond’s spectacular corporate life is concerned, no hyperbole is over the top. Even after descending into bankruptcy and serving time in jail, Bond remade his fortune and died a wealthy man in 2015.
