Artist Patricia Piccinini’s monumental Skywhale hot air balloons will inspire new generations of Australian art lovers, Seven Group chief Ryan Stokes says.

Ahead of the balloons’ inaugural public flight in Canberra on Sunday, the businessman and National Gallery of Australia council chairman said the pair of dreamlike creations – both more than 30 metres tall – would help audiences reimagine what art was during a national tour.
