Celebrated Japanese designer Kengo Kuma reflects on his first residential project in Australia and designing for a post-COVID-19 world.

Kengo Kuma says architects have a role in drawing up what the post-pandemic world might look like. 

Reports that, under COVID-19 restrictions, screaming is no longer allowed on Japanese roller coasters will disappoint a lot of people: if ever there was a year we needed to vent, it’s this one.

While the rest of us on this wild ride are screaming (albeit silently), respected architect Kengo Kuma has been thinking deeply about urban life and the mistakes of the past.
