When Aussie Home Loans founder John Symond met acclaimed Australian artist Jeffrey Smart, the Rich Lister whispered that he had just purchased one of Smart’s iconic works.

The Adelaide-born great was signing books at the Art Gallery of NSW a few months after Mr Symond had acquired The guiding spheres (Homage to Cézanne) II, painted in Tuscany in 1979 and 1980.
