Mummy is going away for a while. The antiheroine of the moment, in films such as The Lost Daughter and Scenes From a Marriage commits the mother’s ultimate sin: abandoning her children.

She can mother in such a specifically bad way that she is assigned a bad-mum archetype: stage mother, refrigerator mother, “cool mum.”
