Richard Tognetti’s electric violin to put the AC into the ACO
The world premiere of a piece by American composer Samuel Adams will have the Australian Chamber Orchestra sounding like never before.
When Australian Chamber Orchestra artistic director Richard Tognetti plays the electric violin, he says he wants it to sound “beyond” its acoustic counterpart.
And when the ACO performs the world premiere of Echo Transcriptions this month, a new work for electric violin and strings by American composer Samuel Adams, the 16 musicians with Tognetti will sound transformed too, despite the traditional instruments they’ll be using.
