It is towards the end of our lunch date that Peter Nash leans forward on the table. His elbows replacing a recently departed main plate, we launch into what feels like the true substance of our conversation. Over a three-course set menu at Ezard we have already traversed a career arc that has seen Nash lead the audit of two of the nation’s biggest companies BHP Billiton and the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group. He is now in the role of Australian chairman of global powerhouse KPMG.
We have pulled apart politics and global economics. Now Nash is talking about the difficulties facing Aboriginal Australians.
