As writer and actor Jonathan Biggins talks about impersonating Anthony Albanese, there’s a sliding door moment as he drops into character. Suddenly, I feel like I’m across the table from the prime minister. A blink later, and Albanese is gone. Biggins has segued into a rumination on the magic of revue.

“I don’t think I look anything like Albo, but everyone tells me it’s uncanny,” he says. “You have to get the right glasses, but it’s all just smoke and mirrors – literally. I love the fact it’s so analogue.”
