Artspace has for the past decade sought greater integration with Asia, and now the major Sydney-based centre for contemporary art has taken the ultimate step: hiring its new boss direct from mainland China.

Victor Wang has joined Artspace, which provides 11 rent-free studios and exhibition space at harbourside Woolloomooloo, after five years as executive and artistic director at M Woods, an independent not-for-profit art museum with galleries in Beijing and Chengdu.
