One of the first major musicals to open in the “living with COVID” era harks back to a time when if you were working from home, you were probably a housewife.

Patricia Resnick finished 9 To 5’s feminist screenplay in 1980 for the movie starring Dolly Parton, who returns in this musical adaptation – running at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre until at least May 1 – as writer of all the songs, and as a narrator whose famous bouffant pops up in exuberant pre-recorded segments.
