Investors have piled into Virgin Australia with shares jumping on the airline’s return to the market after a five-year absence, amid optimism that a long downturn in listings will finally come to an end.
Brokers are already backing the newly listed Virgin, hoping that its niche between Qantas and low-cost subsidiary Jetstar, and focus on domestic travel, will help push margins and returns higher.
