Sydneysiders will find out in mid-December whether years of construction that sent businesses broke and disrupted pedestrians and traffic is worth the $2.9 billion price tag when the city's new light rail line starts taking passengers.
The light rail line - which is opening almost a year late and has almost doubled in price, with construction initially forecast to cost $1.6 billion when contracts were signed at the end of 2014 - will start running from Circular Quay to Randwick in the eastern suburbs at 11am on Saturday, December 14.
