Rex needs a buyer willing to spend big on planes
Regional Express will need a deep-pocketed buyer willing to invest to regenerate the airline’s ageing fleet, casting doubt over government assurances that regional centres will remain connected without a significant injection of taxpayer money.
Labor’s record on aviation competition is again under fire after the airline known as Rex became the second local carrier, following Bonza, to appoint administrators this year, closing its major city routes.
