New vehicle sales in August highest in five years, EVs jump
New vehicle sales in August were the best for that month since 2017 in a market where demand continues to outstrip supply, and the appetite for electric vehicles reached a record 4.4 per cent of all new vehicles sold.
The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries announced on Monday the latest official new vehicle sales figures, which showed 95,256 vehicles were sold in August, up 17.3 per cent on the same month a year ago when Sydney and Melbourne were in lockdowns.
