Airports say don’t cut Singapore Airlines out of Virgin-Qatar tie-up
The peak body representing big airports has thrown its weight behind Virgin Australia’s plans to co-opt Qatar Airways’ planes but says the tie-up should not be at the expense of existing code-share arrangements with Singapore Airlines.
Australian Airports Association chief executive Simon Westaway said the body’s members support the proposed alliance but noted “concerns about restrictions placed on Virgin Australia” in its submission to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s review.
Correction: An earlier version of this story called it the Australian Airports Authority. It is the Australian Airports Association.
