Air traffic controller shortages ‘degrading’ the network: airports
The country’s largest airports say staff shortages at Airservices Australia, which operates air traffic control, has “disrupted and degraded the capacity of the network”, putting them on side with their long-term adversaries – the airlines.
The Australian Financial Review reported on Wednesday that airspace on the busy route between Brisbane and Sydney had been abruptly left without air traffic services twice on Tuesday, limiting the number of flights and causing a raft of cancellations.
