When the final flight left the Queensland tropical island in late March, 600 people had decided to stay put. They definitely don't regret it.

Just 600 people remain on Hamilton Island, normally home to 4500 people.

If there's one thing better than being stuck in lockdown on a palm tree-fringed island near the Great Barrier Reef, it's being stuck in said tropical paradise with four world-class executive chefs.

Since Hamilton Island, home to luxury 60-suite resort Qualia, moved into lockdown in late March, those who stayed put haven't exactly done it tough.
