Evacuations ordered in northern NSW as soggy summer looms

Thousands of residents in northern NSW have been ordered to evacuate as flooding worsens, following days of heavy rain and strong winds along the eastern coastline.

With the wild weather washing away Clarkes Beach in the popular coastal town of Byron Bay on Monday, tourism operators are worried the La Nina weather pattern could deliver a soggy summer when they are supposed to be recovering from the downturn brought on by the coronavirus pandemic.
