Tourism operators are predicted to lose up to $4 billion from the disrupted September school holidays, with fears some businesses won’t survive until Christmas.

With ongoing COVID-19 lockdowns in NSW and Melbourne shattering any hopes of a bounce back in the tourism sector, the industry has called on the Morrison government for a reinstated wage subsidy to help businesses make it through until vaccine targets are reached to avoid costly shutdowns.
