Australia's approach to tackling climate change should not hinder attempts to revive the multibillion-dollar tourism industry following this summer's catastrophic bushfires, says federal Tourism Minister Simon Birmingham.

As tourism heavyweights and other export industries called on the Morrison government to turn around the perception the country was not doing enough to counter global warming, Senator Birmingham said Australia needed to focus on the positives to resurrect the sector, which is facing its biggest crisis in decades.
