Vocus Communications' founder James Spenceley had an ambitious vision in September 2010 – to ramp up its market capitalisation from $35 million to $200 million by 2015.

This was a tiny business that worked in the guts of the internet, buying and reselling data cable capacity. Many pundits wrote the comments off as the feverish dream of a precocious young entrepreneur.
