TPG’s Felix may rule out 5G to keep costs low

Consumers struck by rising inflationary pressures are fleeing the big mobile brands, but the head of TPG Telecom’s low-cost brand Felix says the digital-only model can limit churn and still power up per-user revenues.

Kelly Beater, who took over the business unit last April, said consumers were “actively trying to find the best deal” following 11 straight interest rate rises and a stubbornly high inflation environment. Headline inflation, while off the peaks seen near September, still ran at 7.8 per cent in the December quarter.
