Optus has been taken to court by the competition watchdog for exploiting hundreds of disadvantaged people by pushing sales of phone and internet services, causing some to rack up thousands of dollars in debts.
Australia’s second-biggest telco group after Telstra allegedly put “undue pressure” on people to buy phones and communications services – even though some could not use the services at home because there was no Optus coverage where they lived.
