NBN Co non-committal on pricing after earnings turnaround

NBN Co chief Stephen Rue has kept his cards close to the chest on whether there will be changes to the company’s extra capacity charges after a billion-dollar earnings reversal, as tensions simmer with the broader sector over the pricing structure that some argue has depressed their profit margins.

The company – a nationalised corporation tasked to build and operate the national broadband network – booked $424 million of earnings after so-called subscriber costs in the six months to December 31, which was up significantly from a $663 million shortfall in the comparable prior period.
