Data error brought down Optus network

An error with the database used to track and block stolen mobile phones caused a national widespread outage to Optus Singtel mobile customers on Thursday.
The issue, which went on for up to eight hours on Thursday afternoon and evening, saw many customers unable to make calls, send text messages or use data services.
