The Socceroos’ valiant effort in Qatar showed the world Australian soccer should not be underestimated, and a 97th-minute chance from the youngest player to take the field in the World Cup knockout stages since Brazilian legend Pele gave a glimpse of what’s ahead.

It comes less than a year out from the FIFA Women’s World Cup to be played in Australia and New Zealand, starting in July 2023, where the national side – the Matildas – hope to make a strong push in front of the home crowd.
