This billionaire has an AFL grand final ticket. Good luck to the rest
For the first time since 2006 two non-Victorian teams will contest the AFL Grand Final at the MCG, and flights and accommodation are as much of a battle as tickets.
Robin Khuda, the migrant success story who just sold his business to a US private equity giant for $24 billion, will be among the 100,000 fans at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Saturday where he hopes to watch his beloved Sydney Swans win the AFL premiership for the first time in person.
The Swans have been one of the most successful teams of the league’s modern era, having won premierships in 2005 and 2012 and reaching the grand final seven times in 20 years. Khuda knows they are much harder to win than to get to. He went to the decider in 2006 and 2022 but watched the Swans lose both times.
