The $150m gamble behind Cox Plate favourite Anamoe
If Anamoe can claim victory in the Cox Plate he could cement himself as the greatest horse in the country and one of the most valuable stallions in Australia.
When Anamoe leaves the gates in the Cox Plate on Saturday afternoon, he’ll carry the hopes of millions of punters. But for Vin Cox, managing director of the Australian arm of the global racing giant Godolphin, which owns and races Anamoe, there is much more at stake than that.
If Anamoe can claim victory in the race, which is run at the tight, tricky Moonee Valley course in Melbourne, he could cement himself as the greatest horse in the country. But more than that, he will become one of the most valuable stallions in Australia – and potentially launch himself onto the global breeding stage.
