Geelong clinch AFL premiership with 81-point win over Swans

Updated

Geelong Cats are 2022 premiers

The siren has sounded, and the crowd has erupted as Geelong have won their first premiership in 11 years with an 81 point drubbing of the Sydney Swans.

The Cats were simply too good throughout the match, with Sydney unable to recover from the minor premier’s goal scoring which saw them quickly establish a 35 point lead at quarter time.

Four goals from Tyson Stengle, and three from both Tom Hawkins and Isaac Smith helped put Geelong in a commanding position, as Sydney was overwhelmed.

FINAL SCORE: Geelong 20.13 (133) defeats Sydney 8.4 (52)
