Australia’s women on water have delivered stunning sporting success during the first week of the 2024 Olympics, in which host city Paris has shone as a venue, even if the sun didn’t always. Success in the swimming pool and the white water rapids means Australia began day seven on Friday fourth on the medal table – depending on how you count them – behind only the giants of China and the US, and host nation France.
The Games began last weekend with Australia’s best opening day ever, with three golds – the first by Grace Brown in the women’s cycling time trial – then two in the pool.
