Life-changing win for wildcard doubles heroes
The hundreds of thousands of dollars collected by Jason Kubler and Rinky Hijikata after their fairytale win in the Australian Open men’s doubles final on Saturday will propel the duo to greater heights, tennis experts say.
The tennis players’ share of $695,000 in prize money trumps Kubler’s $230,000 fourth-round payday at Wimbledon last year and adds significantly to 21-year-old Hijikata’s total career earnings of $US330,000 ($465,000).
