‘It’s like a game of chess’: Why Pat Rafter is hooked on padel

Australian tennis legend Pat Rafter has been addicted to padel ever since his neighbour in Byron Bay invited him to play the game two years ago.

The 52-year-old, who won the US Open twice in the 1990s, says that while the beauty of tennis is the physical and mental pressure it puts players through, padel – where the ball is played off walls – is a mind-boggling sport.
