The team stunned bookies’ favourite India to snatch the title by six wickets in front of an almost-capacity crowd at the world’s biggest stadium in Ahmedabad in Gujarat state. Australia will be awarded $US4 million ($6.1 million) and India $US2 million, according to the International Cricket Council, the sport’s global governing body. The prize money equals that of the 2019 tournament, which was the highest amount so far.
