For decades now, footballers have been keen on gimmicks. Whether it’s something that looks good or perhaps they’re convinced it gives them an edge, they’ll go for it. But, for the most part, they fit the dictionary definition of a gimmick – something designed to grab the attention rather than actually doing anything.
