Fiji’s globetrotters pose threat to wounded Wallabies

The first week of the Rugby World Cup did not disappoint. It produced a smorgasbord of viewing for the hundreds of thousands packed into the heaving stadiums of France and the tens of millions watching globally, with a domestic French TV audience of 15.4 million for the dramatic victory of Les Bleus over the New Zealand All Blacks in the opening game.

This weekend the Wallabies take on Fiji, the Harlem Globetrotters of world rugby. A look at Fiji’s opening match against Wales reveals what Eddie Jones’ men will be up against when they kick off in Saint-Etienne at 5.45pm on Sunday (1.45am Monday AEST).

Simon Poidevin played 59 Test Matches for the Wallabies between 1980 and 1991, captaining the team on four occasions. Simon is one of only four Australians to have won rugby union's World Cup, Grand Slam, Bledisloe Cup and Hong Kong Sevens.
