London | After the English men’s team almost brought football home in their European Championship final last year, the job and the glory of winning England’s first soccer silverware since 1966 fell to the women.

In the European Championship final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday night (Monday AEST), the confident and skillful England women’s team overpowered Germany – the perennial nemesis – in a tense final that went to extra time before the hosts won 2-1.
