Dark clouds loom for first Ashes Test in Brisbane

Melbourne and Hobart are battling it out for the rights to host the fifth Ashes cricket Test after Cricket Australia pulled the plug on Perth because of Western Australia’s draconian border restrictions.

While rain is threatening the first day’s play for the first Test starting at the Gabba in Brisbane on Wednesday, Cricket Australia has officially put out to tender the hosting rights for the fifth Test on January 14 to 18.
