Brisbane will become the test case for the new-look, lower-budget Olympic Games after a full meeting of the International Olympic Committee voted for the city to host the 2032 summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.

With memories of the widely-praised Sydney 2000 games still strong, Queensland’s candidacy for the world’s biggest sporting tournament secures an Olympic dream first denied it 35 years ago. But Brisbane’s planning, logistical and administrative skills will be pushed to the limit.
