Geoff Lipshut is celebrating Australia’s Beijing 2022 winter haul of four medals more than most. After all, the former freestyle skiing coach, sports administrator and now head of Australia’s winter Olympic body, has gone home from plenty of tournaments empty-handed.

“I still remember the trepidation about not winning a medal. It’s pretty scary,” Lipshut tells AFR Weekend from Beijing.
