Football Australia boss vows to ‘weed out’ Melbourne pitch invaders

Football Australia chief executive James Johnson has vowed to “weed out” spectators who invaded the pitch during A-League club Melbourne Victory’s match against Melbourne City that left rival goalkeeper Tom Glover bloodied after he was struck in the face.

Glover was hit by a metal bucket used to dispose of flares as fans from the Victory end stormed on to the pitch after the 20-minute mark of the game with City leading 1-0 at AAMI Park.
