Woolworths hiring 20,000 to meet demand surge

Woolworths plans to create up to 20,000 new jobs over the next month to meet unprecedented demand for grocery products and boost its online capabilities so it can make more home deliveries during the coronavirus lockdown.

The move comes as thousands more Australians were made redundant. Kathmandu Holdings – the name behind the eponymous outdoor wear label as well as surf company Rip Curl – is closing its operations around the world, leaving 2000 people out of work across Australia and New Zealand at the Kathmandu-branded business.
