The climate change challenge facing retailers
As the fight to save the planet ramps up, retailers need to assess what costs they will bear and what should be borne by suppliers, consumers and investors.

Climate change is no longer a hypothetical threat to retailers. Drought in 2017 and 2018 dented consumer demand in regional areas, devastating bushfires in 2019 and 2020 crimped sales, and record-breaking floods this year have caused more than $100 million of damage in the retail sector alone.
