The big lie of the big-stick code is lower grocery prices

By adding cost and complexity, these reforms may well increase the cost of doing business and this could be passed on to consumers at the checkout.

The biggest lie in the political pantomime over the cost of living is that making the current food and grocery code between supermarkets and grocery suppliers mandatory will reduce grocery prices for Australian families.

The press release on the final code report by federal Treasurer Jim Chambers notes that the code reforms and other policy initiatives are “all about easing the cost of living for Australians”.
