Supercheap Auto and Rebel chains crimped by lockdowns
Lockdowns in Australia’s two biggest cities of Sydney and Melbourne have triggered a 10 per cent slide in like-for-like sales in the first four months of 2021-22 for Super Retail Group, owner of the Supercheap Auto chain, the Rebel sporting goods retailer and the BCF outdoor equipment business.
Super Retail also owns the Macpac outdoor clothing chain, which has also been hit hard by lockdowns in New Zealand, where adventure wear is a large segment of retail.
